Building Inspections Canterbury

What is a Building Inspection?

In recent years, New Zealand housing has been subjected to major issues such as Leaky Building Syndrome, poor construction practices, questionable building materials and faulty workmanship.

So regardless of where you live in New Zealand or the kind of home you are looking to purchase, it is essential to have the property checked over by a professional, registered building inspector to gain a thorough understanding of the investment before you finalise the sale.

A Building Inspection with Jima’s Building Inspections New Zealand will arm you with what you need to know about the journey you are embarking on and identify:

1. Any major and minor defects or potential safety hazards in compliance and accordance with the New Zealand Building Codes and Standards
2. Any issues that may worsen over time and may need to be budgeted for in the future
3. The information required to plan for future renovations
4. Any potential asbestos issues or concerns about drug manufacture in the property
5. Checks for leaks and moisture, electrical and plumbing problems. Weathertight issues are one of the biggest focuses of our inspections.

A building inspection won’t just uncover the hidden secrets of a property you have your eye on, it can also become a powerful negotiating tool in regards to purchase price.

Council records will also be cross checked to ensure the paperwork that goes along with the property, matches what the building inspector sees.
